Florida Marriage Requirements

What do I need to get married in the state of Florida?

You need a valid Florida marriage license. You can obtain your Florida marriage license from any county Clerk of Court in Florida. It does not have to be from the county you're getting married in. Here are three located in Central Florida:
Brevard County (Cocoa Beach is located here)
Orange County (Orlando is located here)
Volusia County (Daytona Beach is here)

How much does a marriage license cost?

Florida marriage license is $93.50. This must be obtained by you AND brought to your wedding ceremony. This fee is not included in any of our packages.

How long is a marriage license valid?

60 days.

What is needed if either person was married before?

Legal documentation of the end of that marriage

Is there a waiting period?

If you are a Florida resident there is a three-day waiting period after you apply for your marriage license. If you are a non-Florida resident, there is no waiting period.

Do I need a permit to get married on the beach?

No, not in Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral.

Our Policies

Do you perform vow renewals and commitment ceremonies?

Yes. For a vow renewal, you already have your previous, official marriage certificate so that takes care of it. A commitment ceremony is exactly what it sounds like: you consent and make a commitment to each other in front of family and friends. However, it is not legally binding.

Who performs the ceremony?

Beverly Martinez Collins, a registered minister will be performing you ceremony.

How long does the actual wedding ceremony take?

The average beach wedding ceremony takes approximately 20 minutes.

Do I have to find my own location?

All of our weddings are performed at beautiful Sidney Fischer Park. However if you have another nearby place in mind you can have the ceremony at the location of your choice, additional charges may apply. It must have reasonable beach access and parking for us, our equipment and your guests. If it is a private property, you will have to obtain the manager/owner's permission. We will then decide on the best place to set-up your beach wedding ceremony.

What is proper Beach Wedding Wear?

There are no set rules; any type of wedding attire is acceptable. A bride's dress can never be too formal, even if the groom is wearing khakis and a dress shirt. Ladies if you wear a veil keep in mind; there usually is a breeze on the beach, so remember to have extra bobby pins to secure it or make sure it can be easily removed.

Can I have petals or bird seed to throw at our wedding?

We do not recommend bird seed as it attracts too many birds. We recommend bubbles and if you want flower petals, only real petals maybe used.

What happens if it rains?

We, obviously, cannot control the weather. If we can wait out a storm for a short period of time, we will and we will make every effort to have the ceremony on the beach. But if we can't, we will try and move the wedding to a nearby venue but we are not responsible for finding that alternative site. If there is a Hurricane Warning, we would be happy to reschedule the ceremony for another available day.

What if we are running late for the wedding?

You may select your own wedding time, based on availability. If you are going to be late please contact us and let us know as soon as possible. If you are more than 45 minutes late, your wedding will be cancelled, no refunds will be due. Promptness is requested due to the changing tide conditions and other weddings that may be scheduled, keep in mind that early in the day or later in the day are the best times because the beaches are less crowded.

What about a deposit?

A deposit is required to reserve the date. Your deposit is non-refundable, NO EXCEPTIONS, it will be deducted from the total price and the remaining balance will be due 15 days before your scheduled wedding date.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, it must be within 30 days of ceremony date and you will have the option to reschedule. If you cancel within 29 days or less, any money paid will be forfeited, you will only be allowed one reschedule.

Will you perform a wedding outside the Cocoa Beach area?

We can perform weddings in Melbourne, Satellite Beach and other areas in Central Florida. Travel fees will apply, contact us for more details.

Will you perform a same-sex wedding?

Yes, we believe everyone is part of God's global community and have the right to marry. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender expression or sexual orientation.
